Ascot Underwriting Ltd. is pleased to announce the following appointments to their Ascot Renewco, Ascot Asia, and Cargo teams.
Alex Lumby, Chief Underwriter and Principal Officer of Ascot Asia, is returning to London to lead Ascot Renewco, assuming the role of Chief Executive of Ascot Renewco. Alex has been with Ascot Asia for the past year, building our Asian business and establishing Ascot as a leader in the region. Alex will continue as a member of the Ascot Asia Board and will maintain his strong contacts with Asian markets through his new role with Ascot Renewco.
Cargo has proved to be our lead line of business in Asia and to show Ascot’s continued commitment to the region, Lee Vanderson, leader of our global Cargo business, has been appointed Chief Underwriter and Principal Officer of Ascot Asia Pte Ltd., subject to approval from Lloyd’s and the Monetary Authority of Singapore. Lee has been with Ascot since 2001 and has built our Cargo account into the largest in Lloyd’s. He has worked extensively with our Cargo clients in Asia and brings significant experience in the region to his new role with Ascot Asia.
Alex Lumby said, “I am pleased by the success we have had in Asia to date and am very confident that Lee will maintain this progress, and look forward to continuing to assist him in the future.”
Lee Vanderson said, “I am excited about this opportunity to further establish our business in Asia and I am looking forward to working even more closely with the extensive base of trading partners I have built in the region.”

He brings a wealth of experience in the Cargo business with a proven track record for achieving year on year growth of the Cargo account at Marsh, and will build on Lee’s work to ensure that Ascot remains at the forefront of the Cargo market in Lloyd’s.”
